BREAKING: Biafra: Nnamdi Kanu Granted Bail On Health Ground (See Details)


The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has been granted bail by the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Tuesday.

Kanu was granted bail on health grounds.

The IPOB leader is also expected to provide three sureties one of who must be a serving Senator, a Jewish religious leader and highly respected person, who own land anywhere in Abuja.

The bail bond has been set at N100 million for each surety.

Kanu was also ordered never to grant any interviews to the press, pending the outcome of his trial. He will not be seen in a gathering of more than 10 people.

Justice Binta Nyako made it clear that Kanu’s bail will be revoked, if any of the orders are flouted.

However, the other accused persons were denied bail. According to Justice Nyako, treasonable felony – the charges against them is a serious offence against the state.

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu, has been whisked away by operatives of Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigerian Prisons Service after he was granted bail by a Federal High Court in Abuja.

Nnamdi Kanu and the other three accused persons were taken in a green prison vehicle escorted by four other black hilux vans.

Although, it is still unclear when the bail conditions will be perfected by the IPOB leader, news reports that Kanu’s relatives left immediately to make arrangements for the release the IPOB leader.

The Federal High Court had earlier ruled that IPOB leader provides three sureties one of who must be a serving senator, a jewish religious leader and highly respected person and must own a land in anywhere in Abuja as part of his bail conditions.

Kanu has been remanded in Kuje Prison pending when his bail conditions will be met.
News learnt that the bail bond was put at N100 million for each surety.

The judge presiding over the case, Justice Binta Nyako, also ordered Kanu never to grant any press interview pending the outcome of his trial

He is also expected not to be in a gathering of more than 10 persons

Justice Binta Nyako noted that Kanu’s bail will be revoked if any of the orders are flouted.

Meanwhile, the Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose has given reasons for appearing in court for Nnamdi Kanu’s trial today, Tuesday, April 25.

Fayose, who wore an Igbo cap to the court, told journalists outside the courtroom that Kanu is a Nigerian who was being treated unjustly for no reason.

The governor said it is unfortunate that many Nigerians are treated in the same way like Kanu.

His words: “This nation belongs to all of us, I have come to identify with the Igbo people. My position remains that Kanu will one day walk into freedom in this our great country.”

The governor’s presence elicited jubilation from members of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) gathered outside the courtroom.
