Mourinho: Martial Is Like A New Player
Jose Mourinho was quite pleased with Anthony Martial’s performance in the 2-0 win over Burnley, saying it is like having a new player.
The Frenchman has come in for criticism by Mourinho, with the Portuguese questioning his work rate before the match against Anderlecht.
However, with Ibrahimovic out injured and Rashford rested, Martial started the game and impressed, he opened the scoring in the win.
Mourinho said he was impressed with his performance.
“He has to understand what we need from him but it’s not just for us but it’s also for him,” Mourinho said.
“If he wants to become a very special player – he can do that – then he has to go in a certain direction and today he showed this attitude and appetite. We are happy because we have a new player until the end of the season.”
