Pochettino Asks Spurs To Focus On Title
Mauricio Pochettino has urged his squad to ignore the speculations about their future and focus entirely on their title charge.
Spurs are second on the table and four points behind Chelsea on the table. With an important week for Pochettino’s men starting on Wednesday against Crystal Palace.
Talk of Spurs stars joining Europe’s top clubs have started, with Xavi claiming Guardiola will move in for Alli.
However, Pochettino told the media on Tuesday that now is not the time to be thinking about such matters.
“In the next three to four weeks we must give our best efforts,” he said. “The players must try to focus. Don’t think about holidays, rumours, what will happen next season.
“I cannot guarantee anything in life. The most important is to enjoy the present. In the future, we take the best decision for the club.
“After three years you can see how the team is improving every year and all our decisions so far are good. Trust in the club that we will take the best decision for the club to achieve, to improve next season again.
“We care a lot about the club and now we must focus on the present to try to help the team and club to be there, if Chelsea drop points.
“It will be special if, in the last season at White Hart Lane, we win the Premier League.”
Pochettino added: “We must give our best to try and get the three points because we are fighting for the Premier League and, if it is not possible to catch Chelsea, to be in the top four.
“I think the next six games are all finals.”
Asked if six wins would be required, Pochettino added: “Of course and then it is not sure that you can catch up Chelsea.
“Today it is up to Chelsea (who host Southampton) and for us tomorrow it is a game we must win.”
